Business Valuation
Valuation services relate to the value estimation of an ownership interest in a closely held business.
Valuation services are usually available from accounting firms because of the close relation of the service, the
business and tax advice commonly provided to small business clients. There is no legal distinction between the terms
valuation and appraisal, and the valuation literature does not use the terms consistently. However, it is useful to make a
practical distinction between the objectives of valuation services and the related subject of appraisal. An appraisal
service generally involves estimating the value of a particular asset such as Real Estate, Jewelry, or Art. The valuation
of a business may require the engagement of an appraiser who specializes in appraising particular types of assets. For assistance
